Pedro Nobre was received at the Portuguese Embassy in Mozambique in a meeting aimed at strengthening academic partnerships with Mozambican institutions.
Pedro Nobre, Director of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), was received at the Portuguese Embassy in Mozambique by Ambassador Jorge Monteiro, in a meeting focused on reinforcing academic and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting aimed to explore the support of Portuguese diplomacy in consolidating strategic partnerships with Mozambican higher education institutions, with particular emphasis on Eduardo Mondlane University. The agenda included the development of joint initiatives in the fields of Psychology, Education and Health, including capacity-building activities within the Faculties of Medicine and Education.
The Ambassador highlighted the importance of cooperation between Portugal and Mozambique, identifying health and education as priority areas, and expressed openness to supporting projects led by the University of Porto and FPCEUP, particularly in fields such as mental health and sexual health, where there remain significant shortages of specialised resources.
The meeting was also attended by the Embassy’s Head of Cooperation, Patrícia Ferro, and forms part of a broader series of meetings that Professor Nobre is holding with various Mozambican institutions during his visit to the country.
At the end of the meeting, the Director of FPCEUP emphasised “the promptness and strong encouragement shown by the Ambassador”, underlining “the shared willingness to move forward with structured and sustainable cooperation between higher education institutions in both countries.”
