According to Samantha Meyrick, Filipo made landfall this morning in Vilankulo. She shared some photos on the Severe Weather and Information Centre SA Facebook group.
Reënval SA also posted a video of Manie Barnard in Inhassoro, 340km north of Inhambane. According to the post, wind, rain and “storm surge” damage to buildings and infrastructure from Filipo can clearly be seen.

The tropical storm system is expected to result in disruptive rain over the northeastern areas of South Africa.

SAWS has predicted disruptive rains for parts of Mpumalanga, including Mbombela, Barberton, Bushbuckridge and Sabie, and has issued a level 4 warning for this Wednesday, March 13, while a level 6 warning has been issued for the Nkomazi area.
