Republic Bank Fuels Change, Donates to West Dominica Federation for Youth Empowerment

On Monday, February 19, 2024, Republic Bank (EC) Limited (RBEC) took a significant step towards empowering at-risk youth in Dominica by presenting a substantial cheque to the West Dominica Federation. This gesture marks a pivotal moment in the bank’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility through its Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) programme. The programme is designed to foster partnerships with organizations that aim to create a lasting positive impact on communities across the East Caribbean.

The West Dominica Federation has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at providing at-risk boys from vulnerable communities with the guidance and support they need to navigate the challenges of growing up. Their project, specifically targeting boys in Grades 3 to 6, offers a comprehensive support system through a local Boys Club.

Here, participants have the opportunity to engage in activities that promote educational achievement, emotional well-being, and personal development. The areas of focus include career counseling, environmental awareness, traditional cultural practices, basic life skills, and health and wellness education. With the recent financial boost from RBEC, the project is set to expand its reach and deepen its impact.

A Partnership for the Future

During the cheque presentation ceremony held at RBEC’s Hillsborough Branch in Roseau, Dominica, Managing Director Tracy Bartholomew emphasized the bank’s vision of building a better tomorrow through collaboration with like-minded partners.

The PMAD programme, now in its second year, has already supported a diverse group of 16 partners representing various social investment programs throughout the East Caribbean. Bartholomew’s statement reflects the bank’s dedication to enhancing the lives of people in the region, particularly those who are most vulnerable.

Looking Ahead

The partnership between Republic Bank and the West Dominica Federation is a shining example of how corporate entities and non-governmental organizations can come together to address social issues effectively.

As the project moves forward, the focus remains on providing young boys with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. The impact of this initiative is expected to resonate not just with the direct beneficiaries but also with the wider community, paving the way for a future where every child has the chance to thrive.
