ALGIERS- The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of the Republic of Mozambique, Carlos Joaquim Zacarias, arrived in Algeria on Wednesday to participate in the 7th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). The summit, scheduled from February 29 to March 2, 2024, is being held in Algiers.
Upon his arrival at the Houari Boumediene International Airport, Carlos Joaquim Zacarias was warmly welcomed at the presidential honor lounge by Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
The participation of the Mozambican Energy Minister in the GECF Summit underscores the importance of the event as a platform for key stakeholders in the global gas industry to discuss opportunities, challenges, and strategies for sustainable development.
The GECF, established in 2001, comprises major gas-producing countries and aims to promote cooperation and dialogue among its member states. Algeria, as one of the founding members, plays a pivotal role in the forum’s activities.
During the summit, participants are expected to engage in discussions on various topics related to the gas sector, including market trends, technological advancements, environmental sustainability, and geopolitical dynamics impacting gas production and trade.
Algeria, with its significant natural gas reserves and expertise in gas production and exportation, provides an ideal setting for hosting the GECF Summit, allowing member countries to exchange knowledge and best practices.
As Mozambique seeks to develop its own natural gas resources and expand its presence in the global energy market, Minister Carlos Joaquim Zacarias’ participation in the summit presents an opportunity to explore potential collaborations, investment opportunities, and partnerships with other gas-exporting nations.
The presence of high-level delegates from across the globe underscores the importance of cooperation and dialogue in addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities in the gas industry, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development and prosperity of participating countries and the broader global community.
