Dominica: Media owner and entrepreneur, Frankie Bellot, has died

Frankie “Krazy” Symes Bellot, the owner of Kairi FM radio station in Dominica, has passed away. He had been ailing for some time. 

A statement from Kairi FM said Bellot passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. In its condolences the radio station said known to many in Dominica as “Krazy,” Frankie was a cherished member of the community, contributing significantly to various fields such as business, politics, and community organising.  

He had a deep passion for fostering unity in diverse communities, facilitating meaningful dialogues, and supporting community growth. It noted Bellot also had a love for travel which allowed him to explore numerous countries. 

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit said he is saddened to learn of the passing of Comrade Frankie Bellot, a dear friend and colleague, who had been ailing for some time. 

The prime minister said Krazy, as he was popularly known, was a true patriot at heart who made meaningful contributions to Dominica in the fields of business and politics.  

Skerrit said as the owner of Kairi FM, Bellot provided a platform for political discourse and for the promotion of the arts, culture and entertainment, helping to expand the reach and influence of the broadcast media in Dominica.  

“As Political Leader of the Dominica Labour Party, I remember Krazy for his steadfast support of our party’s programmes and policies, for his candor on matters of politics and government and for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand. I count it an honour to have known Krazy and to have called him friend.” 

The prime minister on behalf of the Government of Dominica and the Dominica Labour Party has extendedt condolences to his wife, Catia, his children and the Kairi FM family.  

The Dominica Cancer Society has also extended condolences to Bellot, which described him as a dear patron.
