SADC resolves to support DRC, Mozambique missions ~

SADC Member States have resolved to provide diplomatic and military support to the DRC and Mozambique to find lasting solutions to the violence.

The SADC member states have pledged their continued support to the Governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique towards attaining lasting peace, stability and security.

In a communique read by SADC Executive Secretary ELIAS MAGOSI, the Summit commended troops contributing countries and expressed its appreciation to the men and women deployed in the SAMIM and SAMIDRC for their dedicated service towards preserving peace and
ecurity in the region.

Mr. MAGOSI said the Member States reiterated their support to the political and diplomatic processes, namely the Luanda and Nairobi Processes.

And in his closing remarks, President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA who is the chairperson of the Organ Troika , expressed gratitude to all heads of state and their representatives for attending the summit and their cooperation towards the consolidation of peace and s
curity in the region.

President HICHILEMA empathized the importance of collaboration at a global level and supporting regional bodies on the continent to foster the environment of peace, security and stability.

He said that peace, security and stability are important ingredients to the social and economic development agenda of the region.

President HICHILEMA said the member states want to see a more stable SADC so that the limited resources that are available to humanity are availed more to improving the living standards of citizens.
